Review: The Marudhamalai Temple, Coimbatore. I’ve read there are 837 steps from the base of the hill to the temple. I didn’t think to count them but would believe this to be a true figure.
There are 2 stairways to the temple. The longer way from the base of the hill where the stalls are, or turn right at the base and go by bus fur a few rupees to the upper carpark where there are 50 steps at the front of the temple plus 2 short flights to the left.
The views from the top are truely amazing and worth the climb. The streets are easy but avoid the heat of midday. There is no charge to visit this venue.
There are a few options getting to and from Coimbatore to the temple. We chose to go be taxi (300 rupees) and return by bus ( I think less than 50 rupees). The buses get pretty packed and travel is about an hour.

Patteeswarar Temple, Perur
Located just 9 km from the city center, Patteeswarar Temple Perur is dedicated to Lord Nataraja. It features stunning architecture, intricate carvings, and colorful paintings, making it a key highlight among Coimbatore tourist attractions. The scar on the main deity, believed to be from Kamadhenu, adds to the temple’s mystique.
Review : I went to the temple in the morning of my last day in Coimbatore. I was supposed to go in previous evening, but it rained and hence I had to change my plan. I am glad it happened.
I went in the morning of 12th March and when I reached there were 3 kalyanams/ weddings. So it had to be an auspicious day. By the time my turn came in the queue, the screen / veil was lifted and I could have a clear darshan of the lingam.
It’s a beautiful temple with an exquisite ceiling. Inside the sanctum sanctorum / garbhagriha it’s such a beautiful feeling.

There is enough tree cover to make sure that the walk is comfortable. There is a little train ride option as well. And a huge park just outside so that one can play as much as they want after the zoo.

The awe-inspiring Adiyogi statue Coimbatore, located at the Isha Yoga Center in the Velliangiri foothills, stands 112 feet tall. This steel marvel celebrates the origin of yoga and invites spiritual seekers to meditate, rejuvenate, and connect with ancient wisdom.
The statue was created to promote yoga and inner well-being, reflecting the theme of moksha (liberation) in yogic tradition. Visitors of all backgrounds are welcome to practice yoga and meditation at the center. At the base of the statue, you’ll find a shrine and a meditation hall that draw spiritual seekers and tourists throughout the year. It’s no surprise that this iconic figure is one of Coimbatore’s most popular attractions.
This landmark is one of the best places to visit in Coimbatore for its spiritual essence and modern architectural brilliance.
Review : Visiting the Adiyogi Shiva statue was our main priority on our Coimbatore trip. We visited there in the evening and returned after the light show. It was crowded and busy. There are plenty of parking areas and many local shops for drinks and foods. Unfortunately, we found that most items are very expensive including small model of Adiyogi. But the surroundings of Adiyogi are a great feeling. This location is far from Coimbatore, around 30 km, 50+ minutes drive. You can opt for local buses to reach there or arrange a taxi or cab. Overall, this was a wonderful experience.

Location: Noyyal River, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu
Review: This place is around 33 km from coimbatore and quite good number of buses(99,59) ply from coimbatore Gandhipuram busstand. This falls lies inside a reserve forest and four wheelers/buses are not allowed till the fall as they might disturb wild animals if there are any.All vehicles needs to be placed at a parking and luggage needs to be kept at cloak room.We need to pay money for cameras and entry ticket costs 60 rs for adults and 25rs for kids.We need to board forest dept vehicles to reach the entry point of the waterfalls. We need to walk for 1 km to reach the fall. There is lot of crowd even in morning hours and no way to take the photos of the falls without crowd.People will get down into falls even though water is very chilled and won’t come out for hours. This is a beautiful waterfalls in which water falls from a height and there are mutiple tiers for this falls.People are allowed to take bath at the down but the rocks are slippery .

Review : For a refreshing dose of splendid natural beauty, a visit to Vaidehi Falls at Narasipuram on the outskirts of Coimbatore is recommended. These waterfalls are about 30 km from Coimbatore on the Coimbatore-Siruvani road. What makes these falls so enchanting is the picturesque locale with its luxuriant greenery and the stunning views.

Vaidehi Falls comes under forest jurisdiction; you will need permission from the concerned authorities before venturing here. These falls are a popular destination for picnickers and trekkers. However, if you are trekking into this forested are, it is advised that you ask for the help of forest guards since there are many wild animals here. Review : We visited this place as a family and were totally delighted by the experience. It delivered beyond our expectations which were quite reasonable given that this is a tiger reserve. It’s certainly not a luxury holiday but a comfortable one for sure. The rooms were clean and hygienic, the food was awesome and the location is a perfect spot to experience the forest and the local culture together. Note that the only mobile network available is BSNL. The trek on Day 2 and bamboo rafting were the highlights of our trip.

The forest department really deserves credit for enforcing the discipline in tourists for maintaining the habitat for the wild and yet making it safe for visitors. Thank you.

Velliangiri Hills
Known for its spiritual aura and challenging climbs, Velliangiri Hills trekking attracts both adventurers and devotees. The hills are part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and are considered sacred due to the presence of a Shiva temple. Wondering how to reach Velliangiri Hills from Coimbatore? It’s just 40 km by road and well-connected by local transport.
Review: Every year I used to trek there with my bros and friends. Need to trek 7 hills upwards to reach the Shivan temple, and to reach base trek 7 hills downwards.

If you want to see the beauty of sun rises at the top, start to your trekking between 12 am to 1 am. Minimum 4 hours of trekking is needed to reach the temple.

First 3 hills are very difficult to trek, it’ll test how strong you are… Other hills are fine to move, except 7th hill (it is too steep)
